How Rhinoplasty is Performed
Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Alessi will create a personalized surgical plan based on your desired results. During the procedure, nasal cartilage may be reshaped, repositioned, or removed in order to give the nose the desired appearance. Bones may be reshaped and repositioned as well. Once the procedure is completed the incisions will be sutured closed and the nose will be wrapped and bandaged.
Rhinoplasty Recovery
The nose will need to be bandaged and dressed during the first part of your rhinoplasty recovery. Recovery time will vary based on the extent of the work performed. Patients can expect to experience some swelling and bruising around the nose as well as some discomfort. Pain should be minimal and can be managed with medication.
Patients can typically resume most of their normal activities after two weeks or so, but more strenuous activities should be avoided for longer. Some deep internal swelling may persist for up to a year, but a majority of the noticeable swelling should dissipate after the first few weeks. As the swelling subsides, your final rhinoplasty results will become more visible.
